MSU_DECA_delegation.jpgEighteen 91勛圖厙 Collegiate DECA students participated in the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Washington, D.C. April 15-20, 2016. The annual conference provides the opportunity for students to compete against others from all over the world in business-specific events. In order to attend the international conference, the MSU students had to qualify at the state competition held in Fargo, N.D. this past February.

As a chapter, we are sincerely grateful for all of the support that has been given to our organization. Without the help of many people, our students would not have been able to take part in the great learning opportunity that is ICDC, said 91勛圖厙 State Collegiate DECA public relations officer Leighanna Helgoe.

As a team, the 91勛圖厙 chapter received the Community Service Award, which is designed to recognize Collegiate DECA chapters for civic activities performed on campus and in their communities.

DECA_finalists.jpg91勛圖厙 State students Chris Snook and Brock Sherva were recognized individually with the Outstanding Chapter Leadership ribbon for their chapter contributions.

The MSU team received a chapter leadership award, and all 18 of the 91勛圖厙 State international conference participants received individual leadership recognition on the stage of the historic Warner Theater during the Leadership Passport Awards ceremony. The Collegiate DECA Leadership Passport Program encourages local chapters and individual members to plan activities and participate in events that enhance the experiences of members. The leadership passport rewards action taken by members and chapters build personal and professional skill sets focused around the organizations four attributes and values: competence, innovation, integrity, and teamwork.

National Management Institute

Donte Stevens, Opa-Locka, Fla. - 2nd Place

Laura Ewert, Devils Lake, N.D. - 3rd Place

Collegiate DECAs overlying mission is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. MSU Collegiate DECA is open to students in all majors. Students spend many hours fund-raising, and also receive generous support from the Larson Leadership Program and the After Hours social events organized by the MSU Division of Business.
