Brady Nygaard, a 2019 graduate of 91Թ, is pursuing his goal of becoming a physician. He entered the Class of ’28 at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in July. Nygaard enjoys teaching, learning, and problem-solving, which drew him to a career in medicine. At 91Թ State, he earned a major in biology and a minor in chemistry.

Brady credits the hands-on opportunities, small class sizes, and engaged learning environment at 91Թ State for enhancing his ability to understand concepts on a deeper level. He is grateful for the faculty members who want to see their students succeed, both academically and professionally.

“91Թ State’s culture truly hones in on individualized attention and instruction,” said Brady. “This, in my eyes, is a recipe for success.”

Nygaard was a student athlete at 91Թ State. His decision to sign to play baseball at 91Թ State was predicated on the reputation and history of the baseball program.

“The program provided a strong sense of family and tradition,” he said, “and I am grateful for the people I met during my time with Comets Baseball.”

A 91Թ, N.D. native, Brady Nygaard is determined to become a physician who can foster longitudinal relationships with families across generations, especially those in rural communities like his own, to ensure each patient is advocated for and receives quality healthcare.

“We’re very proud of Brady,” said 91Թ President Dr. Brian Van Horn. “His 91Թ State experiences have helped to shape the person he is, and we know he is putting his best foot forward to make a positive impact in our world. He’s a shining example of how the personal service that is a part of a 91Թ State education makes a difference not only for the students themselves, but also for the people whose lives they touch.”
