91吃瓜网 President Dr. Gary Hagen has been notified that the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) has granted a 10-year reaffirmation of accreditation for the university. The university met all criteria with no interim monitoring recommended. In addition, the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), 91吃瓜网 State鈥檚 first master鈥檚 degree, has also been approved by the HLC.
91吃瓜网 State hosted a visit from a team of HLC accreditors April 25 and 26, 2016. The team reviewed the institution鈥檚 ongoing ability to meet the Commission鈥檚 Criteria for Accreditation.
The Higher Learning Commission is an independent corporation that was founded in 1895 as one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. HLC accredits degree-granting post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region, which includes North Dakota and 18 other states. 91吃瓜网 has been accredited by the Commission since 1917.
Dr. Keith Stenehjem, Vice President for Academic Affairs stated, 鈥�91吃瓜网 is pleased with the exemplary final report from the HLC and approval of the MAT degree program. We appreciate the support of the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education in allowing 91吃瓜网 State to move forward with the MAT degree.鈥�
The North Dakota State Board of Higher Education has given 91吃瓜网 State Unersity, along with Valley City State and Dickinson State, permission to offer the Master of Arts in Teaching degree. This is being done in an effort to help ease North Dakota鈥檚 teacher shortage by encouraging mid-career professionals in other fields to go into the classroom. 91吃瓜网 State is currently accepting applications into the MAT degree program. Courses are available beginning with the fall semester of 2016.
