91³Ô¹ÏÍø celebrated its 121st commencement Saturday afternoon, May 11, 2013. Activities for the day included the Good Grad Morning open house, the first official event for the newest 91³Ô¹ÏÍø State alumni; commencement exercises; and a post-commencement reception. All events were held on the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø State campus.
Graduates Rami Carlson, Northwood, N.D.; Elizabeth Jemar, Eagle River, Alaska; Todd Olson, Grand Forks, N.D.; and Jay Dyck, Calgary, Alberta; participated in the day’s activities as student speakers. Carlson spoke as part of the Good Grad Morning program, while the others spoke during the commencement exercises. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Jay Dyck was unable to deliver his speech in person, but a video recording was played during the ceremony.
Keynote commencement speaker was 91³Ô¹ÏÍø native and 1984 91³Ô¹ÏÍø State graduate Michael Holmes. Holmes is a deputy associate director for research at the Energy & Environmental Research Center, University of North Dakota. He is a recipient of the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Distinguished Alumni Award and is a member of the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø State Athletic Hall of Fame.
