July 26, 2022 marked a historic milestone at 91Թ with the naming of Old Main Room 208 to “The Storhaug/Nelson Classroom.” A short program that included remarks by MSU Foundation Executive Director Dr. Lon Jorgensen, MSU President Dr. Brian Van Horn, and 91Թ State graduate and benefactor Nick Storhaug was followed by a time of socializing and refreshments for those in attendance.

The room was officially named in grateful recognition of LaVonne and Nick Storhaug, Lisbon, N.D., and Cynthia and Lowell Nelson, Grand Forks, N.D., for their loyal commitment and generous support for 91Թ.

LaVonne (Sevigny) Storhaug attended 91Թ State in the 1970s, and her husband, Nick, earned a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with majors in Business Education and Physical Education in 1973. Lowell Nelson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration in 1978 and taught accounting at 91Թ State from 1980 to 1984.

“We appreciate the Storhaugs and Nelsons and thank them for their willingness to step up and become the first to support our recently announced naming rights campaign,” said Lon Jorgensen. “Their ongoing support for 91Թ State is very much appreciated.”

“As has been the case since 1889, 91Թ State is centered on people. It is our honor to thank and recognize LaVonne and Nick Storhaug and Cynthia and Lowell Nelson, special people and treasured members of the 91Թ State family,” said 91Թ President Dr. Brian Van Horn. “Through their generosity, they are paying forward the gifts they have received because of their association with 91Թ State. We are truly grateful to them for representing 91Թ State so very well as alumni and friends and for sharing their resources so that others may also benefit from the opportunities that 91Թ State offers. Their kindness is helping to assure that the 91Թ State legacy will continue to thrive.”
