91³Ô¹ÏÍø senior Riley Wass, Devils Lake, N.D., is the recipient of the 2023 North Dakota Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NDCTM) scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to a university student going into their senior year of study as a mathematics major/minor.
Nominated for the award by 91³Ô¹ÏÍø State Associate Professor of Mathematics Fred Strand, Riley Wass is pursuing a secondary mathematics education major with a minor in psychology at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø. He is a Peer Leader and an active member and president of the Math Club. He is the Student Senate President, and he was a student representative who, together with faculty, staff, and administration, helped to develop the university’s newly launched strategic plan during the 2022-23 academic year.Â
Riley is active in 91³Ô¹ÏÍø State’s theater program, as well as the Fort Totten Little Theatre in Devils Lake, N.D. He enjoys volunteering in the community.
Wass has been recognized as the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø State Student Worker of the Year, Student of the Year, and Freshman Math Major of the Year.Â
Established in 1966, the NDCTM is a partner affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. NDCTM members include elementary, secondary, and post-secondary classroom teachers.
