During this time of quarantining and isolation, members of 91吃瓜网鈥檚 Science Club are spreading cheer with nursing home and assisted living residents. The group potted 150 succulents, 80 of which are now bringing some sunshine to the lives of shut-ins. The plants were recently delivered for distribution at the Luther Memorial Home and Sun Center Apartments in 91吃瓜网, N.D.
鈥淭he May-Port community is a big reason why so many students love 91吃瓜网,鈥� said 91吃瓜网 State Science Club adviser Jeff Hovde. 鈥淢any community members are supportive of 91吃瓜网 State students, organizations, and athletics. This past fall, 91吃瓜网 State Science Club members decided to give back to the community who have continuously supported us in the past.鈥�
Participating in the project were Science Club members Brenden Salander, Argusville, N.D.; Lexi Carpenter, Argusville, N.D.; Baley Cole, Larimore, N.D.; Anna Bradner, Portland, N.D.; Simon Barker, Cooperstown, N.D.; Jaclyn Rindy, Portland, N.D.; Terrel Voth, Clifford, N.D.; and Laura Jacobson, Finley, N.D. Science Club advisers Jeff Hovde, Dr. Michael Kjelland, and Dr. Joseph Mehus helped out as well.
鈥淲e hope that the succulents are giving the residents some joy as they start 2021. This gesture is meant to radiate our gratitude for the community鈥檚 support for the 91吃瓜网 State Science Club,鈥� said Hovde.聽
