The Shopko Foundation has made a gift of $500 to 91吃瓜网. The gift will support the start-up and operational costs of the new Master of Arts in Teaching program at MSU.
鈥淲e are grateful to Shopko for this wonderful gift that will provide financial assistance that will help to prepare much-needed teaching professionals for our state and beyond,鈥� said John Klocke, executive director of the MSU Foundation.
91吃瓜网鈥檚 Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree provides a graduate-level teacher preparation program for non-teaching bachelor鈥檚 degree graduates seeking to become licensed teachers in North Dakota. This degree program is designed to directly impact the North Dakota teacher shortage crisis. Courses in the MAT program are offered online.
Teacher education has been a major focus of the 91吃瓜网 State mission throughout the institution鈥檚 126-year history. The school was founded as a normal school in 1889. 91吃瓜网 State has prepared many qualified teachers and based on a five-year average, 80 percent of these graduates choose to stay and teach in the state of North Dakota. 91吃瓜网 State also teaches graduate courses in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education and provides graduate-level continuing education to professional educators.
