The Shopko Foundation has made a gift of $500 to 91勛圖厙. The gift will support the start-up and operational costs of the new Master of Arts in Teaching program at MSU.

91勛圖厙s Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree provides a graduate-level teacher preparation program for non-teaching bachelors degree graduates seeking to become licensed teachers in North Dakota. This degree program is designed to directly impact the North Dakota teacher shortage crisis. Courses in the MAT program are offered online.
Teacher education has been a major focus of the 91勛圖厙 State mission throughout the institutions 126-year history. The school was founded as a normal school in 1889. 91勛圖厙 State has prepared many qualified teachers and based on a five-year average, 80 percent of these graduates choose to stay and teach in the state of North Dakota. 91勛圖厙 State also teaches graduate courses in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education and provides graduate-level continuing education to professional educators.
