Here's why 91³Ô¹ÏÍø State is right for Hunter!

Why did you choose to attend 91³Ô¹ÏÍø?
I chose 91³Ô¹ÏÍø State because it is in my hometown and a small college where everyone knows who you are. The teachers all know you by name and the class sizes are small enough to make you more than a number on a class roster. These reasons added to the affordability made 91³Ô¹ÏÍø State the only college choice I ever considered.
What do you like best about the major you’re pursuing?
I think a Business Administration degree at MSU was a great idea for me personally. It is a degree that can provide me with several different career options for my future.
What do you like best about 91³Ô¹ÏÍø State in general?
I like how small it feels. I think this really has a positive effect on the students. It pushes them to join different groups and organizations around the campus. It also makes you accountable for your behavior and encourages character building lifestyle choices. I feel that knowing that the faculty members know you personally holds you to a higher standard.
Do you participate in any activities related to your major/minor? Internships? Work Study? Other?
I am currently a bank teller at the First and Farmers Bank in 91³Ô¹ÏÍø and have been employed there for about three years.
Have you had any unique opportunities, in or out of the classroom, while you’ve been enrolled at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø State?
I was asked to be a part of the peer leader organization. This was very unique because of the fact that I was recommended by some of the teachers here at the college. This organization helps the freshmen ease into the college life. This organization has helped many students to make new friends.
What MSU clubs, organizations, or athletic activities do you participate in?
I am a participant in Peer Leaders and Collegiate DECA.
How have these activities enhanced your college experience?
These activities have introduced me to many great people at the college. It also has gotten me closer to some of the teachers that participate in them as well. Being a part of these activities has taught me to open up and learn more about myself.
What has been your greatest moment as a 91³Ô¹ÏÍø State student?
The recommendation by faculty members to be considered for the peer leadership team was an honor for me. The whole selection process brought me out of my comfort zone. Each level I advanced through gave me more confidence and encouraged me to continue to the next tier. When I was chosen for the group, it made me realize that I would be expected to lead by example and hold myself accountable for my choices and decisions. For every action, there is a reaction, which can be positive or negative.
What does personal service mean to you?
When I think of personal service at my bank job, I think of how important it is to treat all of my customers with genuine respect, give them my full attention while I am assisting them, and make them feel like they are the most important part of my job while they are standing at my window. They are the purpose for my job, which is to serve them and make sure that I have done all I can to make their visit a positive experience. All my experiences at MSU have been the same. I always feel that I actually matter to the people that work in the offices and classrooms. I am not a disruption in their schedule, but the purpose for that schedule.Â
What are your plans after graduating from 91³Ô¹ÏÍø State?
I hope to get a job in the banking industry. Because of the classes and opportunities I have had so far at MSU, I have been given the option to expand my duties at the bank. My class schedule is flexible enough so that I have been able to add to my responsibilities and further my hands-on training in other aspects of the banking industry.
